How to play Unlimited Wordle

New to Wordle, or just want a quick refresher? Here's everything that matters — the goal, the colours, the two modes, and a few habits that'll sharpen every guess.

The goal is wonderfully simple: guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries. Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and you get six rows to find it. After each guess the tiles change colour to tell you how close you were — and those colours are the whole game. Read them carefully and most words fall in three or four guesses.

Unlimited Wordle plays exactly like the Wordle you already know, with one big difference: when you finish, you don't have to wait until tomorrow. A fresh word loads the instant you solve one, so you can keep going for as long as you like.

The basics

Making a guess

Type a word, submit it, and let the colours guide your next move — on whatever keyboard you've got.

Type five letters

Use your physical keyboard, or tap the on-screen keys below the board. Your letters fill the current row from left to right.

Press Enter

Submit a full five-letter row with Enter (or the on-screen Enter key). The tiles flip over to reveal their colours.

Fix typos with Backspace

Delete the last letter with Backspace any time before you submit. Nothing locks in until you press Enter.

Only real words count

Every guess must be a valid dictionary word. Random letter jumbles are gently rejected, so each guess you make returns real, usable clues.

The clues

What the tile colours mean

After every guess, each of your five tiles turns one of three colours.

Green — right letter, right spot

This letter is in the word and you've placed it exactly where it belongs. Lock it in and build the rest of the answer around it.

Yellow — right letter, wrong spot

This letter is in the word, but not in that position. Keep it for your next guess and try sliding it somewhere else.

Gray — not in the word

This letter doesn't appear in the answer at all. Cross it off your mental list and avoid reusing it in later guesses.

How duplicate letters work

This is the rule that trips up the most players, so it's worth a moment. A letter is only highlighted as many times as it actually appears in the answer. Say the answer is ROBIN and you guess BOOKS — you've used two O's, but ROBIN only has one. So just one of those O's lights up; the other stays gray, even though O is in the word. Correctly placed (green) copies are always coloured first, then any leftover yellows. Once you know this, those "but I had that letter!" moments make perfect sense.

Unlimited

Endless puzzles, back to back. Solve a word and the next one loads instantly, each as a numbered Level. No clock, no daily cap — play a single round or fifty in a row.

Daily

One shared word for everyone, every day. The whole world — and your whole server — gets the same puzzle, refreshing each midnight. Perfect for a single, can't-cheat daily ritual.

Multiplayer

Made for playing with friends

Because everyone gets the same word, you can actually compete — fairly.

Shareable levels

Every Unlimited puzzle is numbered, and Level N is the same word for everyone, everywhere. Tell a friend to play Level 100 and you're racing the exact same answer — so you can compare guesses and streaks and settle it for real.

Get better

Tips for fewer guesses

Small habits that quietly shave a guess or two off every solve.

Start vowel-rich

Open with a word packed with common letters and vowels — something like ADIEU, AUDIO or ARISE. Pinning down several vowels early narrows the field fast.

Make a strong second guess

Whatever your opener reveals, use guess two to test five brand-new letters instead of just shuffling the ones you know. Ruling more of the alphabet in or out surfaces the answer sooner.

Watch the keyboard colours

The on-screen keyboard recolours as you play — green, yellow and gray — giving you a running map of which letters are still live. Glance at it before committing to each guess.
